Nino's Lasagna

Ingredients

- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 cup parmesan cheese
- 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- meat, sauce
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 celery, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley (or dried)
- 1/2 medium carrot, grated
- 1 (5 1/2 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1/2 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
- cream, sauce
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup flour
- 3 3/4 cups milk
- 1 pinch each salt, pepper, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon
Recipe
- 1 cook lasagna noodles according to package directions.
- 2 to make meat sauce: sauté in small amount of oil, onion, garlic, celery, parsley and carrot. add tomato paste, tomatoes and spices and sugar. sauté ground beef in skillet and add to sauce. simmer 2 hours.
- 3 to make cream sauce: melt butter, add flour stirring to mix. add milk stirring until smooth and thickened. add remaining ingredients.
- 4 lightly oil a 9 x 13 inch pan, layer noodles, meat sauce, cream sauce, parmesan and mozzarella cheese. repeat layers twice.
- 5 bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour. let stand 15 minutes before cutting.
