Mueller's Macaroni & Cheese

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 5
  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 1/4 cup margarine or 1/4 cup butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup crouton (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 cook macaroni for 9 minutes - drain, cover & set aside.
  • 2 preheat oven to 350.
  • 3 in medium saucepan melt butter, blend in flour, mustard, salt & pepper.
  • 4 cook until mixture is smooth and bubbly; gradually add milk.
  • 5 cook & stir over medium heat until mixture boils; simmer 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • 6 gradually mix in cheese. stir over low heat until cheese is melted.
  • 7 add pasta; mix together lightly & pour into 2-quart casserole.
  • 8 top with croutons and bake 25 minutes.
