Ingredients

- 3 cups elbow macaroni
- 1/2 cup margarine or 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup flour
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 1 lb cheese
Recipe
- 1 .cook macaroni and drain. rinse with cold water.
- 2 cook and stir margarine, onion, salt and pepper over medium heat until onion is tender.
- 3 blend in flour. cook over low heat stirring constantly until mixture is smooth and bubbly; remove from heat.
- 4 stir in milk. heat to boiling, stirring constantly. boil and stir 1 minute.
- 5 stir in cheese until melted.
- 6 stir macaroni into cheese sauce. pour into ungreased 3 qt casserole.
- 7 bake uncovered at 375* for 30 - 40 minutes.
