Macaroni And Cheese - Microwave Version

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 7 ounces macaroni, cooked
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 -10 drops hot pepper sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups skim milk
  • 8 ounces cheddar cheese (or combination) or 8 ounces swiss cheese, shredded (or combination)
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs

Recipe

  • 1 cook macaroni.
  • 2 put 3 tablespoons butter in a large (1 1/2 quart) casserole. microwave until melted.
  • 3 blend in flour, salt, mustard, pepper, and hot sauce. stir in milk. microwave until thick (4-6 minutes), whisking once or twice during this time.
  • 4 stir in cheese. microwave 30-90 seconds to soften/melt cheese.
  • 5 stir in cooked macaroni.
  • 6 in a small bowl, melt 3 tablespoons butter in the microwave. stir in bread crumbs. sprinkle over casserole.
  • 7 microwave at 70% power for 5-7 minutes.
