Kimchee Style Turnips

Ingredients
- 4 turnips, sliced 1/8 inch thick
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 small slice fresh ginger
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 3 scallions, cut in 1 lengths
- 1/4 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon chopped chives
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds
Recipe
- 1 sprinkle turnip slices with salt. set aside for 2 hours.
- 2 rinse and drain.
- 3 in a saucepan, combine marinade ingredients and bring to a boil.
- 4 add turnips and toss mixture. cook until liquid comes to a boil.
- 5 cool; place turnips and liquid in a jar. refrigerate.
- 6 shake jar occasionally to distribute liquid; allow flavors to blend overnight.
- 7 serve garnished with chives and sesame seeds.
