Low Sodium Lazy Day Soup

Total Time: 1 hr Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • Servings: 5
  • 1 lb sweet italian turkey sausage
  • 1 (16 ounce) bag frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 cup uncooked brown rice
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 (16 ounce) can of campbells low sodium chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon mrs. dash garlic and herb seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon mrs. dash onion and herb seasoning
  • morton's salt substitute

Recipe

  • 1 in a large stew pot add water, broth, and seasonings( not the salt sub. yet) set burner to medium and bring to a rolling boil.
  • 2 then add veggies and brown rice and bring burner to low and simmer for 45min.
  • 3 in the meantime begin to brown sausage and cook the sausages until completly done. once sausages are done cut them into rounds and add to soup.
  • 4 if soup is too thin add about 2 tablespoons of flour ( i recommend whole wheat flour) if soup is too thick add a little more water and a pinch of the salt substitute stir and let simmer for an additional 10 minute.
  • 5 serve with cornbread or crackers for a warm and filling meal.
