Kimchee Style Turnips

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 5 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 turnips, sliced 1/8 inch thick
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 small slice fresh ginger
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 3 scallions, cut in 1 lengths
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame seeds

Recipe

  • 1 sprinkle turnip slices with salt. set aside for 2 hours.
  • 2 rinse and drain.
  • 3 in a saucepan, combine marinade ingredients and bring to a boil.
  • 4 add turnips and toss mixture. cook until liquid comes to a boil.
  • 5 cool; place turnips and liquid in a jar. refrigerate.
  • 6 shake jar occasionally to distribute liquid; allow flavors to blend overnight.
  • 7 serve garnished with chives and sesame seeds.
