Plough Or Plauta (india Rice)

Ingredients
- Servings: 4
- 5 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 (10 ounce) package frozen peas
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 -3 whole black peppercorns
- 1 small cinnamon stick
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 cup long-grain rice, washed
- 2 cups water
Recipe
- 1 heat oil in a deep pot. add onions and cook till onions are transparent.
- 2 at medium heat, add peas to oil and cook for two minutes.
- 3 crush the black peppers with the back of a spoon and add to the oil mixture along with the cumin, salt, cinnamon stick and bay leaves.
- 4 add rice to the oil mixture and stir well, making sure the rice is well coated.
- 5 add water and bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer for 10-15 minutes or until all water is absorbed.
