Plough Or Plauta (india Rice)

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 5 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 (10 ounce) package frozen peas
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 -3 whole black peppercorns
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 cup long-grain rice, washed
  • 2 cups water

Recipe

  • 1 heat oil in a deep pot. add onions and cook till onions are transparent.
  • 2 at medium heat, add peas to oil and cook for two minutes.
  • 3 crush the black peppers with the back of a spoon and add to the oil mixture along with the cumin, salt, cinnamon stick and bay leaves.
  • 4 add rice to the oil mixture and stir well, making sure the rice is well coated.
  • 5 add water and bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer for 10-15 minutes or until all water is absorbed.
